Metal Finishing and Metal Deburring Techniques

Vibratory Finishing

Vibratory finishing is a type of mass finishing manufacturing process used to deburr, radius, descale, burnish, clean, and brighten mass quantities of metal working pieces. Mechanical Finishers offers many different styles and sizes of vibratory deburring machines to be able to accommodate all of your finishing needs. We select the right process for you based on your specifications and customer requirements.

Barrel Finishing

In barrel finishing—also known as barrel tumbling—parts, media, and compounds are tumbled in a six- or eight-sided barrel and rotated at a predetermined speed for the purpose of rounding corners, deburring, grinding, descaling, deflashing, improving surface finish, burnishing, polishing, derusting, and radiusing parts in bulk. We have many machines to handle all size quantity of parts.

Centrifugal Disc Finishing

A type of high speed, high-energy vibratory finishing, centrifugal disc finishing is ideal for precision deburring of all types of stamped or machine parts. It's excellent for finishing conventional materials such as brass, copper, steel, and aluminum as well as alloys such as Kovar, Inconel, stainless steel, titanium, etc.

Spinner Hanger Blasting

Our Spinner Hanger Blasting System is especially suited for surface treatment and deburring of steel and aluminum parts, descaling of forgings, and desanding of castings, especially for those work pieces which are not suitable for tumbling because of their irregular shape or larger size. We offer the ability to handle load capacities of up to 2,000 lbs. per hook.

Tumble Blasting

Tumble blasting is used for bulk material with small geometries or bulk material where steel abrasive contact is not viable. The work pieces are continuously tumbled during the blasting process which is ideal for desanding and descaling of castings, forgings, and heat treated parts. Tumble blasting is also good at removing abrasive residues from the part.

Grit Shot Blasting

Grit shot blasting uses steel shot ground so fine that it looks and feels like sand. Grit shot blasting is best for cleaning steel parts after they have been heat treated. Grit shot blasting is a popular option as it can remove all the residue, soot, and rust without damaging the heat treatment.

Today's modern manufacturing means fast work and tight deadlines. With most average size orders, we complete finishing and deburring within THREE BUSINESS DAYS.
